ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Flor, a bilingual (Spanish) associate-level mental health therapist. I believe in healing, being heard, and providing a non-judgmental space. I don’t sugarcoat the process, but I offer plenty of grace, compassion, and meet you where you are.

I am located in Arizona (Maricopa, Ahwatukee, Tempe, Chandler, and surrounding cities). I specialize in working with older teenagers, adults, and couples. I am also trained to work with first responders and the veteran population, I truly enjoy supporting these communities.

I provide individual, couples, and family counseling. My focus areas include trauma, anxiety/depression, loss and grief, generational cycles, first-generation experiences, BIPOC identity, relationships, emerging adulthood, work/life balance, stress, family conflict, pre-marital counseling, and Christian/faith-based counseling (upon request).

I am trained in various modalities, including EMDR, CBT, DBT, ACT, the Gottman Method, trauma-informed care, and narrative therapy.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from California State University, Dominguez Hills (2016), and my Master’s degree in Social Work from California State University, Northridge (2018). I have been providing one-on-one psychotherapy since 2018 and have worked in the field of behavioral and emotional health since 2013. My journey began as a case manager and evolved into various roles over the years, including Hospital Discharge Social Worker, VA of West LA SUD Group Lead, School Mental Health Counselor, Family Counselor, and Certified School Counselor.

I was born and raised in Southern California, Cali will always hold a special place in my heart. I moved to Arizona after marrying an Arizona native, and now I proudly call Arizona my home. My culture and background are deeply important to me. I love (yes, love!) food, enjoy golf, hiking, going to the gym, and traveling. My husband and I serve as ministry leaders at our local church in Mesa, AZ, where we pastor the young adults group, work with international ministries, coordinate special events, and support our surrounding communities.

Growing up, I was the outspoken teenager who often got in trouble and struggled emotionally. I had to re-learn how to handle my emotions in a healthy way. Being a First-Gen Latine individual brought many challenges, but by the grace of God, I was able to overcome them. I have personally experienced grief, loss, chronic illness, family conflict, relationship challenges, anxiety, trauma, and generational cycles.

The reason I do this work is because, one day, someone reminded me there was hope when I felt like I was drowning in my circumstances. My father became disabled, and my mother and I (being the oldest sibling) had to take care of the home while I juggled school, work, relationships, grief, loss, and caregiving responsibilities. I aspire to be that reminder of hope and a glimmer of light for those who need it.

I don’t bring a textbook approach to therapy because everyone is different. I bring a personalized one.
