ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Flor, a bilingual (Spanish) associate level mental health therapist. I believe in healing, being heard, providing a non-judgemental setting, not sugar coating the process while offering a lot of grace, compassion and meeting you where you are at.

I am located in Arizona (Maricopa, Ahwatukee, Tempe, Chandler and surrounding cities). I specialize in older teenagers, adults and couples. I am also trained to work with our first responders and veteran population, which I highly enjoy working with. I provide individual counseling, couples counseling and family counseling. I focus on Trauma, Anxiety/Depression, Loss/Grief, Generational Cycles, First-Gen, BIPOC, Relationships, Emergining Adulthood, Work/Life Balance, Stress, Family Conflict, Pre-Marital Counseling and Christian/Faith Based Counseling (upon request).

I am trained in various modalities such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, Gottman Method, Trauma Informed, Narrative Therapy.

I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Human Services from California State University Dominguez Hills in 2016 and my Master’s Degree in Social Work from California State University Northridge in 2018. I have been providing Pscyhotherapy 1:1 services since 2018 and have been in the field of behavioral emotional health since 2013. My journey started as a case manager in 2013 and progressed into different roles throughout the years such as Hospital Discharge Social Worker, VA of West LA SUD group lead, School Mental Health Counselor, Family Counselor and Certified School Counselor.

I was born and raised in Southern California. Cali will forever have a special place in my heart. I moved to Arizona after marrying an Arizona native and now call Arizona my home. My culture and background are important for me. I love (yes love) food, enjoy golf, hiking, going to the gym and traveling. My husband and I are ministry leaders at our local church in Mesa, AZ. We pastor the young adults group, work with international ministries, special events and other areas. We enjoy to give back to all surrounding communities.

Growing up I was the teenager that was always getting in trouble, outspoken and emotionally challenged. I had to re-learn how to handle my emotions in a healthy way. Being First-Gen Latine brought many challenges my way, but by the grace of God I was able to overcome them all. I had my own personal experiences with grief, loss, chronic illness, family conflict, realtionship needs, anxiety, trauma and generational cycles.

The reason that I do this specific type of work is because one day someone reminded me there was hope when I was drowing in my situations. My father became disabled leaving my mother and I (the oldest sibiling) to take care of the home all while I was juggling, school, work, relationships, grief, loss, taking care of my siblings, and so much more. I desire to be a remider of hope and a glimmer of light for those that need it. I do not bring a textbook approach to our work but a personalized one.
